 3-Zebras Officiating Camp's

This is a THANK YOU from a camper that came to our 2009 Plymouth/Lakeland Camp and sometimes words are a powerful tool -

I would like to take this opportunity to personally thank each and every one of you for the great experience that I had last weekend.  I have refereed basketball for over 15 years and I learned more in the past weekend than I have in all that time!  I know we always talk about the commitment, time away from family, etc. that officiating takes and of all the time I have spent between football, basketball, volleyball, and baseball, this was by far one of the best weekends I have ever given up.

The attention that each and every one of you provided to me and the feedback was truly outstanding and I think I can speak for Mike as well on this (since we talked about it the whole drive home), "thank you from the bottom of our hearts" for taking time away from your families to help us develop and grow.  I will work hard over the winter on the items that each of you offered and try to improve my game so that next year, hopefully, you will see that the efforts that you put into this camp were not wasted.  The constructive advice that all of you provided was really outstanding and I got copies of all of my "video" games so I can look back over them prior to the start of basketball season to refresh myself with your comments and advice.

Thank you again and Don, please pass on my sincere thanks to the ladies who provided the outstanding food and took time away to help make this a great weekend.

2011 Camp Testimonies  (NEW)

The clinicians were always present to listen and support you.  When I needed a conversation, I received one and it was always professional and I walked away with more knowledge after each one.  Would recommend this camp to anyone wanting to get better - money well spent.

I attended the Wisconsin Dells camp in 2010, and many of the mechanics, game management, and people skills were enhanced as a result of attending, and that helped me get to the state tournament in 2011.  While it was challenging to meet my expectations, Brian, the clinicians and other campers combined to do that in many areas this year.  This is the best investment and value you will find for what it gives you in return.

If you are striving to get feedback from some of the best officials out there who truly care about you, it's a huge advantage to you to be in an environment like the one created at the Wisconsin Dells Camp.

This was my second year at the Wisconsin Dells 3-person camp and I will come back again it was that good.  I will take stock in this camp and any other run by Brian because the building blocks I receive will last me forever.  I am thankful to the clinicians and I am glad I came to this camp again - when will you be here?

I attended Brian's camp in Wisconsin Dells in 2010, and was fortunate enough to be assigned a boys sectional final & boys state tournament game in 2011.  The 2010 camp set the table for me to get where I wanted to go, and I made the decision to return again in 2011 to learn more from the staff that Brian has at his camp.  Best clinicians in the state willing to help you anyway they can to get better.

When I was researching 3 person clinics, I made inquiries to several extremely experienced state level officials, they suggested Brian’s camp. Based on this feedback, I enrolled and attended Brian's three person camp in Madison June 2010.  I had very high expectations for this camp, Brian and his staff exceeded these expectations. From the opening speaker to the camp ending meeting the message was “Do it right”. Brian and his staff were professional and provided valuable insight into the intricacies of 3 person officiating, communications and game management. Classroom sessions provided the framework for proper 3 person rotations and mechanics which were reinforced by an on floor walk through. I especially liked that the campers were scheduled to work numerous full games under the watchful eyes of the clinicians. The clinicians provided feedback, but what made this feedback more beneficial was how and when the clinicians provided feedback. The clinicians allowed the games to flow without unnecessary interruptions making it easy for me to focus on a couple new points each game and avoid the information overload sensation of someone constantly talking in your ear. I also cannot say enough about the clinicians that Brian selected, extremely knowledgeable but more importantly approachable and engaging. It is very obvious the passion and knowledge these clinicians have for the game and that they were sincerely interested in passing on their knowledge to the campers in a positive fashion. It does not matter if you have limited or substantial officiating experience, attending this camp will make you a better official! I would like to say to Brian and the clinicians, you guys “Did it right!” Thank you very much! I look forward to attending the Wisconsin Dells clinic next year.

“The 3 Zebra’s Camp was well run, very organized, on-time, and included great refreshing classroom instruction. Clinicians at this camp care about you as an official and demonstrate this each time they observe you. You get honest feedback at this camp to improve your game. I would recommend this camp to anybody looking to improve.”

"This was an amazing camp and it allowed me to take the next step in my officiating career.  The Camp Director and the staff have the highest of expectations and they are great mentors and equally great people.  It was a great weekend from the classroom sessions to the games on the court."

"I have attended the 3 Zebra’s Camp for 6 years now.  It helps me improve each year that I come.  I plan on attending each year in the future even after being awarded the opportunity to work the WIAA State Tournament in 2010.  I know for a fact this camp has helped me get where I am today and returning each year is an easy decision.”

"I have attended Brian's officiating camps for the last three years and have walked away a better basketball official every time.  Being a new basketball official I was told the importance of attending quality officiating camps to improve my officiating abilities.  When I asked veteran officials whose camp I should attend I was given Brian Kenney's name every time.  When you attend one of Brian's basketball camps you can expect to receive top notch one on one evaluations from college and state championship level clinicians.  These clinicians will take the time to give you specific feedback on your officiating abilities and they will present you with real critiques of your officiating.  In every camp that I attended I received both positive feedback and areas where I could continue to improve my officiating.  I attend Brian's camps because I want real feedback with realistic expectations of areas that I can improve not a clinician just shaking their head and saying things look great.  I am starting just my 5th year of officiating and will have a full high school varsity schedule, partial Division III women's college schedule, and hopefully my third year of Wisconsin high school tournament assignments and I honestly couldn't have accomplished any of this without attending Brian's camps.  The feedback and evaluations that I received from attending his camps translated directly to the court and completely improved my game officiating abilities.  If you walk into one of Brian's camps with a positive attitude and willingness to learn you will walk out of his camp a better basketball official."

"I have been a HS & collegiate basketball official for a combined 17 years.  This is one of the most intense official’s camps I have ever been associated with.  The 3 Zebra's Officials Camps offer a great environment for learning, no matter what level of ball you referee.  The experienced clinicians will work with you one-on-one, while using video technology on the court during live game situations, to help you get the most out of your camp experience.  I look forward to camp every summer, not only to teach campers, but to also learn from them.  Give the 3 Zebra's Officials Camp a try, you won't be disappointed."

“I attended Brian Kenney's Three Zebras camp in the Wisconsin Dells early on in the summer of 2008. I had never been to an officiating camp prior to this. I was very nervous and I really didn't know what to expect. Turns out, it was a perfect camp for my first experience. The clinicians let me know exactly what they thought I needed to work on, but also what my strengths were. I received direct feedback from top notch officials whom I felt were rooting for me to succeed. They gave me the tools to fix various things in my game and then I was given the opportunity to use those tools in the seven different games I officiated over the course of the weekend. Not only was I able to work games, but I also attended some sectionals that dealt with various topics like the basics of three person to more specifics like what a good pre-game consists of. The camaraderie with all the campers and even the clinicians themselves is something I won't forget.”

“Basketball camps tend to take on the personality, attitude, and enthusiasm of the director.  When I see a camp with Brian Kenney's name on it, I know it is going to be a good one.  He brings to the camp his obvious love for the game and asks no less from the clinicians he hires.  One cannot help but elevate their game in a camp that has an atmosphere of respect for the campers, the clinicians and the game we all love.”

Chuck Valle

Chicago, IL

"This is by far the best camp I have attended.  To say that it has helped me immensely would be an understatement.  The quality of clinicians and the consistency of advice amongst them was amazing.  The fellowship amongst clinicians and campers was also great.  I learned a lot, had a lot of fun, and will definitely return."

Nick Roedell

Manitowoc County Sports Officials Association

“I have attended Brian’s camps for over 4 years now and each year I improve my skill level. The clinicians have a sincere passion to teach and work with all campers to improve their knowledge base, skill level and philosophies of officiating. Great camp, great people and best opportunity out there to get you better”

“I have attended a number of camps over the year throughout the state and the Three Zebra’s Camp is by far the best I have seen. I found the entire staff to be approachable, personable and passionate to help all campers no matter what experience level. I learned things that I could immediately implement into my game and I am a better official for attending Brian’s camp. I am thankful I made the decision to attend.”

David Kuehl

Muskego, WI

"I came to this camp not knowing a thing about 3-person officiating and that is not the way I left. This camp far exceeded my expectations in every aspect – clinicians, organization, level of play of games and quality. The clinicians Brian hires are top notch and the passion to teach shows in each of them. I would recommend this camp to anyone who wants to improve at any level.”

 Team Extreme

Bringing in Brian for the start of our season was one of the best things I could have done for our "TEAM"

His unique team building games and the thought process behind them were not only educational, but motivational.  It was exactly what we needed to start the year off right.  We were looking at bringing two very different age groups  of girls together to be this years varsity team, and Brian's team bonding process worked magic for us.

I would really recommend Brian for your team.

Brenda Duvall

Former Colby High School Head Varsity Volleyball Coach - Colby WI

"Brian Kenney is an awesome motivator.  We love the activities that he does with our team.  Not only does he try to motivate the team, but he also adds some thoughts and lessons on alcohol and other drugs to help young people in their decision making skills.  We have had Brian come to our gym for 2 years now and am looking forward to many more years to come."

Kathy Luther

Athens High School Head Varsity Volleyball Coach - Athens WI

“Our 2008 Blugold volleyball team was perhaps the most close-knit group that I have ever coached, and I would give Brian Kenney a lot of credit for that.  We battled a lot of adversity throughout the season, but ultimately shared a conference championship and earned a NCAA tournament appearance.  I truly believe that one of the reasons we were able to stay together and succeed was because we made team cohesion a priority right from the start.  During our preseason, Brian spent an entire day working with our players on teambuilding and mental training, and he was instrumental in helping us develop a culture where every player not only accepted her role but embraced it.  Brian took the time to learn about our program and to get to know our athletes so that he could tailor the workshop specifically to us.  He is an amazing instructor, and we will continue to ask him back year after year!”

Kim Wudi

Head Coach, UW-Eau Claire Women's Volleyball

I felt we could benefit from some team building and learning how to deal with pressure in difficult situations this season.  Brian did exactly that for our team.  He had many different activities that all the girls could do and they all came away feeling like they were an important part of the team, from incoming freshmen to the seniors.  Brian not only relates his activities to volleyball, but to every day struggles and decisions that the girls will have to face as they enter the "real world" The girls can't wait until next year when we have him back!

I would highly recommend Brian for any volleyball team. He brings a lot of energy with him and my girls still talk about how much fun they had.

Jenni Mayenschein

Greenwood High School Head VB Coach

We included Brian in a summer training event with Pioneer Sales representatives.  The idea was to challenge sales reps on improved communication,  team building and asking good questions.  My sales reps responded in a very positive manner to the group exercise that Brian facilitated.  Brian demonstrated skills that were very obvious.  Some skills he reinforced with our sales force were - improved problem solving,  clear communication and team building.    I would high recommend Brian's team building seminars.  Brian brings a high level of confidence and ability to build team work!
